The Eagle and the Condor Take Flight: A Prophetic Moment Unfolds

by Fabiola Baughman

I was on my way to the New Living Expo in San Rafael, California, when my WhatsApp suddenly started buzzing nonstop. It was my siblings, flooding our group chat with unbelievable news—an American-Peruvian had just been elected Pope. My heart began to sing.

I had told my family before that the next Pope would come from the Americas. I felt it in my bones. This Earth is calling for a new way of being, and I knew the next spiritual leader would reflect that shift. Deep down, I had a feeling it would be the American cardinal, but I kept it to myself. What I didn’t realize was that he also carried Peruvian nationality.

When I heard the news, chills ran through my body. A deep knowing stirred inside me. “The prophecy of the Eagle and the Condor has been fulfilled,” I whispered. I could feel the truth of it—not just in my mind, but in my whole being.

This ancient prophecy, held by many Indigenous peoples of the Americas, speaks of a time when the Eagle (representing the North, the intellect, the industrial world) and the Condor (representing the South, the heart, the earth-based wisdom) would come together. After 500 years of separation, they would finally fly in the same sky. It’s not a guaranteed outcome—it’s a potential. One we must actively choose. And now, that time is here.

We are living through a true Pachakuti—a time when the Earth is shaking us awake, breaking apart old systems and calling us back to balance.

And now, we have a Pope who carries the Americas in his blood… but Peru in his heart. His election is more than political or religious—it is symbolic of the uniting of two worlds, two ways of knowing, two medicines. It’s a sign of the new Earth we are co-creating.

As this new Pope embodies both frequencies—the sharp mind of the Eagle and the open heart of the Condor—Pachamama reminds us that this is not a path meant for one person alone. She invites all of us to live with this balance: not just in our thoughts, but in our hearts, our bodies, our communities. Pope Leo XIV is not the only one who should carry the Eagle in his head and the Condor in his heart. That calling is for each of us. If we want this world to shift, we must rise to meet it. I encourage you to explore how you can make that a reality in your own life.

Later that night, I sat in ceremony and asked Pachamama, Why this man? She showed me his heart.

She showed me the love he carries—not just from his family, but from the land of Peru. From the people. From prayer. From community. She showed me his devotion and humility. His path has been shaped by both the spirit and the soil. And now, as Pope Leon XIV, he is being called to help midwife the new world.

The Eagle and the Condor are flying together. The sky is open. The time is now.

Let’s rise with them.
